Is It Possible to Over Feed Romaine Lettuce?

I just began giving my two young Uaru romaine lettuce about 2 - 3 times a week. Yesterday they ate a big leaf and devoured the whole thing in about 15 minutes. It dawned on me that that is way more food than I ever give them at one time. Why would it be ok to have them eat that much lettuce, when I'd never give them that much flake or pellet - even veggie flake?

May not be possible. A group of Vieja synspilum I had, seemingly couldn't get enough of the stuff. To explain, have you ever boiled or cooked down raw spinach? You start with this massive amount of leaves, then once the heat is applied and they cook down, you're left with well, not much.
The same thing happens when your fish eat raw veggies. They just quickly digest down to almost nothing. On the other hand... your flake and pellet food (even the veggie based ones) have all sorts of things in them. Including fish meal and grains. Fortified! There are a LOT more calories in those than in your raw plants.

My two love lettuce too, I have to put in two leaves at a time as the festivums and severum go for it also. But the Uarus are so quick eating it! I don’t think it does any harm, and they still eat the other food as well.
