Does any one have any f1 Zaire breeding? I have got a group of f1 moba and just wondered what size and/or age do they reach breeding maturity? A few of mine are probably reaching about 1.5 to 2 years old (The bigger of the bunch are about 5-6 inches)

i added 8 of my F1 females (born spring of 2006) back into my active moba colony last fall. they range from 3-4" in size. none of them have participated in spawn activities yet. i anticipate these f1 females might start first attempts, when the temp. drops this fall (3-4 yrs. old), but i have no prerequisite experience with this fish to guarantee it. HTH.

So I suppose this means that there is not many if any f2 zaire floating around... At least in the USA anyway.

i would hazard a guess that second generation TR zaires exist, but the investment for this type of project, still exceeds the financial logic of most capable mass breeders. because of it's excessive availability on import lists, i would anticipate moba to be the first to fall in value, and correspondingly into the consistent inventory of LFS. IMHO.
