I have 16 demasoni in a 75 gallon tank. I have heard that people keep yellow labs with them. Do they cross breed? How many if I decided to get some should I get? How do you tell the males from the females? Also what is a good food to feed my demasoni?

Thanks

Yellow labs and Demasoni do not cross breed. I'd get 6 yellow labs. The male:female ratio is not important, which is good, because it's nearly impossible to tell them apart. The only way is to vent the fish or observe a female holding eggs. I like to feed my Demasoni, labs and all my fish New Life Spectrum (NLS) Cichlid Formula.

hey man your tank sounds like mine!!! I'm just a couple weeks ahead of you it seems. right now I have 6labs and 18 demasoni. you didnt mention how large your demasoni are but i'd recommend getting labs that are at least the same size if not a little bigger then your demasoni. i know i added some that were about a inch smaller then the largest demasoni and they get their fins nipped more out of everyone. the larger ones seem to get left alone. i have tons of hiding places so i dont think that matters much. as far as food goes i'm feeding mine Tetra cichlid crisps and ocean nutrition cichlid omni formula. after its gone i will be switching to NLS. you just hear to much good about it to not use it! I'll def buy it in bulk and I to have found that you can't normally find it in LFS's. feel free to pm me anytime and search my post. i think things that i have asked will help you out in the future if your not already wondering!!! good luck
