*** got 3 electric yellows in a 20 gal. 2 of em are just above the 2inch mark, the 3rd is a wee bit smaller. One of the larger ones chases the other 2 all over the tank all the time. *** only had them for a few weeks, and they are the only fish in the tank. Why is just this one doing all the chasing? Can this tell me the sex of them maybe?

labidochromis Ceareallus (yellow labs) are pretty passive most of the time; however, they are still mbuna. A little chasing is normal. It may be a male and two females or it may just be that the one doing the chasing is the dominant male and is making sure that the other guys know that. There are many ways to guess the sex of a fish but untill they spawn it's really impossible to be 100% sure. What you have to know about these fish is that they establish a social order and dominance is very important to them. Do you have any rocks in the tank? The word mbuna does mean "rock fish." It may help calm him down if he has his own little cave to rule.

long term you will need to find a bigger tank and add 3 to 4 more labs, that will help spread out the aggression. That may still not calm the super aggresive one down, as with any living creature some just are "bad to the bone".
