I agree with the 4ft tank length, and a group of 6-8 would be good. They are jumpers- so make sure you have a tight fitting lid. My xenos were very skittish- they appreciated low light and not too much activity near the tank. Xenos tend to sprint when startled, avoid sharp rocks in the tank so they don't injure themselves.
I had a group of bathyphilus, I really liked them, nightmare when I put the tank lights out at night, they freaked out big time, oh yeah like jumoing if they got the chance.
Any suitable tank mates in a 4' ?
My experience with papilios is completely different
I've got 12 X. Papilio Msalaba in a 7ft tank with Eretmodus Cyanostictus Mpimbwe, Cyprichromis Leptosoma Kigoma and Xenotilapia Ochrogenys Ndole and they're getting along great
Not shy at all, love to come up to the glass when I stare at them
Love to get their picture taken and they don't even freak out when the lights go out like the Ochrogenys do
