And I'm collecting information ahead of time (what a concept). :) Anyway, I've read about fishless cycling, I've got some holey rock coming and I'd like to start with demasoni and yellow labs (any other suggestions?). My question is . . . I've read that you should have anywhere from 6-12 (depending on who comments) of each to cut down on aggression. On the other hand, you're not supposed to add too many fish at once to a newly cycled tank. Where's the happy medium? Do I start out with one and add the other later? If so, which would be best to begin with? Thank you in advance!!

(oh, and I'll be using a 55 gallon)

Fishless cycle and you can fully stock from the start. That's one of the benefits. Use a dose of 1-2ppm ammonia.

With dems you want no less than 12. Anything less than that and your looking at slowly ending up with one. They are smaller, that size tank should handle it just fine.
