Not sure on the water parameters, as it is late, but I noticed that there is white pimple that seems to be protruding from my Venustus. It does seem to have grown, but is recently stalled out at the current size. Treated with Melafix the last three days.

Any thoughts on what this might be? It's almost like he ate a small pellet, and it got lodged in his nostril, turning white?

It could be something very similar to a pimple.

It could also be lymphocystis in the beginning stages, but it's probably not.

My only other concern would be anchor worm, but this is usually red around the base of the raised part, and the fish will normally flash and behave as if something is bothering him.

Just keep the water pristine, and post back if it gets any worse.

He's not worse, but he seems to have an oblong protrusion around the eye on the same side as the "pimple". It is whitish also. At first, I thought it was a scuff mark from a fight or the lace rock, but this looks different.

Btw, the pimple is literally something growing out of the nostril. It is most definitely white.

Can you post a pic?

Is the white area around the eye fuzzy or cottony in appearance?

Is the fish flashing?

What are the water parameters on the tank?
