Hi, I have a parrot cichlid with a strange white/yellow/grey 'spot' just behind its eye. Not on its eye ball but on its face just behind its eye. It is causing him no pain or seem to be bothering him at all - no flicking/scratching. he is eating and swimming and breathing fine. water parameters are all good as they always are. it just appeared 1 day! I have dosed his tank with plain old aquarium salt and am on day 5 of melafix with no joy. It looks like a spot you would get on a hum face but it hass yellowed slightly after dosing with the salt. Its not moving and is not fungus like. I have only seen 1 small blob of (puss?) come out of it but that was removed from the tanks and was not moving. What could it be?. Its not getting bigger or smaller but it looks awful, even though its causing him no pain. Any suggestions are welcome.

Try doing a 30% partial water change using a good quality dechlorinator and siphon the gravel.
Wait a few hours and do another 30% partial and gravel siphoning. Tomorrow, do the same thing.

See how the fish does over the next few days. Keep the same amount of salt in the tank. I'm thinking its some sort of scrape/injury and perhaps the water changes will give his healing abilities a boost. He may even have gotten burned by the heater.
