The question is, on a 46 gallon bowfront already set up with a emperor 400, mind you there is a couple cichlids already in and tank is balanced and clear.

If you wanted to add more power, what would you do?

bottle of prime 8.5 oz, an aquaclear 100, free shipping for $64.06

or

filstar xp2 for $93.49 free shipping

I have other tanks which use the aquaclear and there great filters, along I use th rena filstars as well both are good, cant decide?

Well, you need the Prime either way right?
I'd say that an Emp 400 is enough filtration for a 46 gallon tank. If anything, maybe add a powerhead to agitate the surface more and/or kick up debris into the EMP's intake. If you want a bit more mechanical filtration for clearer water, get an aquaclear powerhead and add the "quick filter".

8) Since you already have a decent HOB filter I'd say add the 'Can'. "T"
