*** had my johanni for about 5 months now, supposed to be 1m2females but they r about 2.5in right now and the females r still blue and i thought that they would be changing to yellow. Starting to wonder if i got 3males. Just looking for alittle input with any1 who has experience with them. thanks

It's the male that changes from orange to blue. All juveniles, both male and female are orange.

Maybe you have Melanochromis cyaneorhabdos Maingano and not johannii?

I thought that the females turned yellow. Is that not right?

Often maingano (Melanochromis Cyaneorhabdos) are sold as "Electric Blue Johannii". If they were just normal M. Johannii then they would have been gold as juvies.

Sounds like you have the Maingano species, Johanni Gome are orangeishwhen juvi and males turn black with blue strips accross there bodys.
