Hi, I was wondering if I could treat for ick even if the fish do not have it. I was wanting to know because I just got two Bolivian rams and I think ine might have the begin of ick. Would really like some help.

Try a quality UV sterilizer of the correct wattage for your tank. Let it run continuously and clean the filter and replace the bulb as directed.

Will work to prevent not only algae blooms; but, is supposed to be effective at preventing infections from what I read.

Did you put the rams in a tank with other fish? If you quarantined them, then it's probably safe to wait and see. But, if you didn't quarantine them, then it may be worth starting the salt and heat method of ich treatment.

That is an expensive way to treat ich

Heat and salt is all you need. http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/ich.php
