Yeah, that's what I thought. It's the first one I got when I first started out a year or so ago. I didn't know any better. Perhaps I still don't. I did buy a gold nugget a couple of months ago which was half the size of this one. Mistake! I think this guy killed it.
I sure can't tell the difference with the rubber lip and this common pleco. What is the main difference?

The two fish you mention look nothing alike to my eye. A rubberlip is the common name for C. cf. thomsoni which is a grey fish (not brown), wide headed and colder water... the spots are also a dead give away. Google images of C. cf. thomsoni and compare. :thumb:pretty-nifty said:
