I have splotches of algea growing on my background. A few of the splotches are bright green, then the rest are a dark green with a rust/brown tint.

The splotches are only on the background in the area where outlet for my 305 is, too.

Should I be concerned?

Algae are only a problem if they bother you. A lot of fish eat them, and the rest of them don't mind them. A certain amount of algae is healthy for a tank, and can give it a natural look. Obviously if the whole front glass is overgrown or they suffocate your life plants, you want to take action. Otherwise I leave the algae in my tanks alone.

It doesn't really bother me, as it makes my background look a more natural. I just wasn't sure if I should be worried about it. I bought a pleco yesterday and this morning a lot of it was gone. :)
