I want to do a complete restock. I have 4 purebreds and about 5-6 hybrids. They are interesting colors, etc, very healthy, but I do not want them around for the restock effort. Some will be hard to catch, quick to hide in the rocks. Do you just cull them out?

Yes.

Well I don't let them get created in the first place if possible, or if there are surprise fry I make sure tank inhabitants are able to eat them.

My problem is where I live I will not likely be able to rehome the purebreds. I may just have to dump them all to start over.

My plan is to do a single species tank. 55 gal. Chindongo saulosi will stock my next set up.

It's hard to do this hobby without an outlet for pure fish. No clubs? No LFS that will take the pure ones for store credit?

I can sympathize. I don't have anything like that close to me either. The closest store is a couple of hours drive so it's not too practical. I do go there once a month though.
