Last Sunday I purchased 3 new fish for my 125g tank. I don't have an extra holding tank since my 10g is full of fry, so I put the new fish into a box I made which hangs on the inside of the big tank.

This is the box but not the fish I'm talking about.

I put in it 2 almost full size Peacocks to be sure that they were ok and then after I'm sure that they eat and look good I release them into the tank. Problem is that one fish from the time it was put in the box has not eaten or pooped and sulks, color is not as it was in LFS but not that bad. So it is still in the box ( 6 days now), I don't see anything phisically wrong with the fish, except stated facts.

The lfs has a 48 hour dead fish policy that has passed but I'm thinking of trying to returning it. I spoke with them and he said he dosn't want a "sick fish" back but he will "work with me"

I guess my real question is, What is wrong and what can I try? I really would like to keep it since there aren't that many selections of Peacocks around here, but I don't want it in MY tank if its sick.

Thanks, Joe.

Well, Joe, that's not a very good way to QT new fish, so you can't rule out stress as far as the way the fish is behaving. They can spook even when moved to a regular tank, so I can't imagine how it felt when it was dropped into this little box with another fish.

The only thing I can think of for you to do is to release it in a tank by itself, give it a couple of hours to settle in somewhat, and try feeding again.
