Which cichlids are in your tank? If we assume they are Malawi because you have posted in the Malawi forum:

What test kit are you using? Hopefully you can get a smaller range on the nitrates (N03) with a better kit?

N02=0 is good
Ammonia=0 is good
N03=40/80 is not good, you should do partial water changes to get the nitrates (N03) down to 10ppm.

Your KH and pH is low for Malawi.

It's a newish setup but the tank has been running a couple of years now? Did you switch to Malawi? How long have they been in the tank?

Don't change anything until you reply and get additional advice.

If it has been that way for a couple of years, don't change anything.

Except...change a larger volume of water to get that nitrate down to 10ppm. You can do 50% every day until you achieve your goal.

The pH is low, but after a few years they are acclimated so changes would stress them with possibly no improvement. By avoiding additives you make water changes easier and keep things stable.

If I were setting up a new Malawi tank for new fish I would bump up the pH and KH a little.
