My last freshwater tank, I raised juvie discus and everything online strongly encouraged daily water changes to help with growth/color until adulthood. Does the same apply for african cichlids? Or is there any possible negative impacts to daily water changes for young 1.5"-2" peacocks? (Assuming all parameters are maintained with similar Temps, ph, etc)

No negative impacts but also not necessary for African Rift Lake cichlids. Keep nitrates between 10ppm after a water change and 20ppm before a water change. 50% weekly is good, and you can do a larger percentage if you like.

1.5 inch peacocks are not that young. Daily might be somewhat useful when they are newly spit and until they get to 1.5".
