i need to know if victorians are mouth breeders or not ???

and if they are is it a good sign that she isnt eating ????
should i wait 2 or 3 weeks to strip her???
this is my first batch so any advise would help

The Victorian basin Haplochromine cichilds are all mouthbrooders. There are cichlids in the Victorian basin that aren't mouthbrooders though.

Not eating could mean the female is holding, could mean that the fish is sick. Can you see any eggs in the mouth?

If it is the first batch, they often eat them, but I would wait to 21-23 days to strip if she continues to hold.

thank you for all your help you always answer all my questions!
ok so i think she is holding bc she goes up to the food but she wont open her mouth at all so i havent been able to see inside her mouth yet.

my holding fish does the same, goes up to the food but then realize her mouth is full so she cant eat.

that very cool. I am sure that she is holding bc this is day three that she hasnt ate. im going to go ahead n buy a 20g for her today.

you can usually tell they are holding by watching them. they look like they are juggling or chewing something... i think its the egss being moved about. and the area below the jaw will be swollen looking.
