I've had this fish for about 4 months now and it's grown from 1.5 inches to 4 inches. The colors are darkening up nicely but no sign of any blue yet. It moves around like a bit of a boss and the others don't get in it's way too much.

My initial reaction would be female based on the fin and lack of blue in the face at this size. I have had 4 males over the years and only one didn't have a shimmer of blue in the face, so there is still a chance however.

I was hoping it turns out to be a male, but will keep the fish in any case - its part of my all male haps and peacocks tank Stocking up my New Haps and Peacocks Tank

If there are new surprising changes in coloration, will update this thread.

There's been an interesting turn of events with the Venustus. I had rehomed it to my quarantine tank a week ago since I was almost certain it was a female - I saw it doing the mating dance with an adult OB peacock male more than once.

Anyhow, the fish suddenly started showing blue on the face and it's coloration in general started to change quite rapidly over the last 2 days. P

Quite sure this is a male now and I just moved it back to my 90G. The picture is from the quarantine tank.
