There are very few totally veggie flake about (many have fish meal in them (nothing very wrong in that)) the pure algae products are possibly too veggie for Tropheus if used alone.

Troph become pretty adapted to normal aquarium fair pretty quickly (50% reduction in gut length) They are mainly veggie (at times) in the wild because that is all they can get.

Stomach contents of wild fish are pretty miss leading, veggie stuff stays longer in the gut and a large number of wild Troph die of malnutrition.

Just avoid extreams of diet for tank Troph and you will be fine.

Some guys like to add some veggie food because they worry that there is not enough roughage in pellets and flake. To be honest I have found no evidence for this but still tend to include some veggie food. :? :)
