Did you see this article? http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/s ... hp?id=1643

It says juvenile color starts to fade at 4cm-5cm which is almost the size you have. I would expect mature colors to signal onset of sexual maturity and pairing off. Maybe not too much time.

Maybe someone who has raised them will post.

Maybe not many have bothered to breed them under the newish name. Maybe you should search under the old name Neolamprologus moorii? or the older name Lamprologus moori?

Someone must be breeding these guys some were in Europe on a very large scale. They turn up in the shops here at about 3" at very low prices. Think it is a petty more hobbyists do not breed these but I guess the low price you can get for young stops many. :-?

As a side note, for those of you who can read German (and aren't already aware) and are looking for information about cichlids and fish keeping in general. Try your searches at www.google.de and "Seiten auf Deutsch" the fish keeping hobby is huge there and your likely to find good sources of information. For those of you who cannot read German, feel free to try to copy and paste the text. With a bit of background knowledge on your search you should be able to reason through the translated text.
