Hi, I have just added a couple of pieces of pine stick to my geo tank. I didn't really think too much at the time! Anyway. After reading a few posts on other forums it seems most people say not to use it! Due to it leeching sap into the water. Does any one know any more about this? The sticks i've used have been stripped of bark and were in my reptile viv for two years so are fully dried and dead. Can any tell me of any problems I could have. Thanks Damien

Here's some info on different types of wood. Wood, Roots, Leaves

From the site:

Most wood you choose will be safe once it's weathered, but I'd avoid "turpentiney" conifers, such as pine, fir, juniper, cedar, etc. Those sharp-smelling resins may turn out to be low-grade toxins.

Everything I've seen says it can release toxins, but nothing specific on exactly what that would be. If they've been fully dried you may be ok, but not sure it's worth the risk. Too many other safe and attractive options out there.
