I just purchased this fish the other day from a big box store. She was in with the OB peacocks but is obviously not one of them. She did not look like any of the africans that they had. I suspect she may be a peacock/mbuna hybrid or have hap in her. She is a female because she was holding eggs in the store (swallowed them by the time I got her home). She is about 1.5" long and most of the stress stripes have gone away.

artificially hormoned for unnatural color, S. fryeri "electric blue hap" or could be a Fryeri X peacock hybrid. not Mbuna at all.

she will probably turn darker, sometimes almost kinda black as the hormones wear off, then brownish-grey drab.

i would suspect s. fryeri x peacock hybrid.

Are you sure it was eggs she was holding?
Is it possible for a peacock/fryeri hormoned enough to show colors and anal finnage to hold?
