I guess it depends on what you are trying to achieve. These two setups are used for different reasons. If it is simply to provide more current for your fish then i recommend using the stream setup. If it is too aid in raising detritus and prevent it from settling, i recommend using the under gravel jet system.
UGJ or Stream
i am in the process of setting up a new 55 gallon tank for some south american cichlids and am curious what your input was on either doing an underground jet or setting up a stream type setup.
I put an UGJ in my 90 gallon and love the circulation it has provided, however there are only a few spots in the tank where the fish can experience and swim in the additional current. So i was thinking of using a piece of 1/2 pvc with holes drilled in it similar to a spray bar but underwater and with more output.
What do you think?
