Hi all.

Two quick questions. I have heard people use quilt batting in their filters. I bought some, and as soon as I started the filter, little fibers were dispersed into the aquarium water. My question is, is there a particular brand or type of quilt batting people have used successfully in their canister filters?

Secondly, I am having trouble when trying to do maintenance on my C360. Do you have to pour out the water within the canister filter in order to get the trays to lock back in place appropriately? there seems to be too much bouyancy (sp?) with the trays and I can't get them to lock back into place in order to close and seal the canister back up. Hence, I had to pour out water from the canister into a bucket first, it caused a mess, yada, yada, yada.....am I doing something wrong???

I've been using quilt batting for years and never seen any fibers dispersing in the tank at start up..There are a few different thicknesses of batting,I use the HIGH LOFT stuff..Just cut the batting to the size you want and place it in the filter..
I also have a c220 filter.. It is a pain to clean and set up IMO..Rather use a XP Rena or Ehiem much easier to clean..

I have a C-220 and C-360. I only open them up once a month, mostly to change out the fine particle pad. The rest of the media is bio balls, Chemi pure and such. I disconnect the filter and carry it to the bathroom and pull out all the trays, dump the water, rinse the trays in old tank water and put everything back together, then re-hook and push the prime button to refill the filter. I've never had any trouble doing this . . .
