Bummer, I'm now down 3 of these fish. Today I woke up to 2 dead ones and about a week ago I woke up to a single dead one.
These are the only fish out of 35 original juvenile fish that have been turning up dead (stock list in signature 7 of each species originally).
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Didn't bother checking nitrate or ph since it is only day 3 of this water being in my tank. PH is 8-8.2 out of my tap.
No flashing, pacing or other odd behavior noticed in the tank.
I figure a couple things could be going on.
1) I just moved all my fish into a 100g tank. I had to net all fish 3 times in this process over a 24 hour period. So it could be stress and it could be these fish are susceptible to stress more than my others.
2) It could have been extra males and they got picked off as territories are now being re-established. My largest remaining male is nicely colored now and doing the shake and shimmy for the ladies.
3) It could be they are dumb fish and got in the way of my spawning Cyn. Lion Mara Rocks. I witnessed a spawn attempt yesterday and this morning a female Cyn. Lion did not eat. Think I can get a picture of her? Not a chance right now lol
Oh another thing that may be coincidence or not. The first death occurred within 18 hours of a 50% water change. Moving them to the 100g would be a similar experience (essentially back to back 50% changes over 2 days how I did it).
No sign of disease and they ate well at last night's feeding.
I know it could be 1, 2, 3, or a mix of all of the above so just wondering if anyone has experience keeping this species that has noticed them being a bit more delicate/aggressive at night/etc ( oh and I'm commiserating a bit too... )
