I have a net breeder to catch her fry, should i leave her to do it on her own or strip the fry. ??? She is looking very thin and i think its been long enough for her now. Time to get her feeding again I dont have any other tanks to put her into, will the net be ok to grow the fry on in? and let her back out again. many thanks Gary.

OK to strip her, check first baby to verify there is no egg sac. If the breeder net is in the main tank, the other fish will eat the fry right through the net. Plus there will not be room for all the fry to grow. I'd say you need another tank, or strip the fry into the main tank, and wait for a batch of fry to come along after you have a grow-out tank.

Good luck!

If you want to salvage the fry, you can buy a 10g started kit at Wal-Mart for like $30 or so. It'll come with the tank, hood, crappy lights (but hey...it's $30), filter, net and a few other things. Not sure on the heater. You can pick a heater up at Wal-Mart for $8-$10.

Or you can build a fry pile in your tank and let nature take it's course. You can buy the rocks almost anywhere very cheap. Good luck.
