I haul in reverse osmosis/deionized water for my saltwater reef tank from the city but I thought our hard well water would be great for african cichlids. It tests at a dkh of 24. the pH is 8.0-8.1 in a little 10g community tank we have. This would work great right? the dkh isn't too high?

As the others have said, your water is perfectly fine for Malawians, they are fairly accepting of a variety of conditions.

Lake Malawi actually doesn't have very hard water, though it is alkaline.
