I have a bunch of cyps in my tang tank. I notices recently that 1 cyp has a sunken belly, the head is wider than the body but he is still eating like crazy. What could this be?

How long has the tank been set up?

Was it cycled before adding fish? Were these fish in the tank during the cycle?

What are the water parameters?

What is your normal tank maintenance routine?

Any white stringy feces?

Reclusive or unusual behaviour?

It sounds parasitic. Since the fish hasn't stopped eating, it may be what they refer to as "wasting" or "skinny" disease.

I would try feeding a food soaked in metronidazole to the entire tank for a couple of weeks.

It has garlic in it, which is believed to boost the immune system. IMO, it would be a good preventative, but I'm not sure how helpful it would be for a fish that is already infested with parasites.

The tank has been running for about 2 years, the cyps were bought about a year ago.

Water 78*
PH 8.6

Tank is cleaned every 2 weeks about 30%-40% water change

Fed NLS pellets and Ocean Nutrition flakes

He swims with all the others and I do not notice any strange behaviors

And that is what it looks like, like he is wasting away :-?

quarantine the fish... I had it once no real cure... but it can be given to the other fish... not sure if that is what it has, but mine had it even with good water perams.
