In terms of it being safe for the fish, its fine. Anything aquarium safe ranging from medium sized sand to small gravel works well.

If you keep large geophagus' your water will always look at least little murky with substrate that takes a long time to settle (like 12hours or more) or makes the water murky if you pour water onto it too quickly.

PS People will ask you if you plan to keep a planted tank because Seachem flourite is usually used for rooted planted tanks, Jurupari will uproot plants if the only thing keep the roots down is the substrate, you need large rocks over the root areas. So if your going planted and keeping jurupari AND dont have the substrate in yet. Other substrates may be easier, cheaper, and overall better for your setup.
