OK I recently purchased 4 1 inch kenyi from my LFS, one kenyi has the black bars going down but then has one random one coming from the bottom into the middle, is this just some kind of cross breeding hybrid? and it looks exactly like the other kenyi accept for that.

yes, I'd have to say that normally odd markings show they are ahybrid, or perhaps not the highest bredding quality, but don't let that stop you from completely loving them! They are great fish, I used to have a ton of them, they were all beautiful!

it's also quite possible it's a mutation, which is fairly normal. one of my tiger barbs (not in the tank with the mbuna!) has one blotchy stripe.

it doesn't guarantee it's a hybrid, necessarily.

It's common to have a few individuals without perfect marking, it's not a sign of anything negative, but it's probably not sought after in terms of the next generation so you may want to get one with better markings.
