Hi, I am new here. I have a 65G aquarium with a foot print of 36x18. I know it's a little small but I already have it and a larger tank for African's just aren't in the books right now. My wife and I love the colorful Lake Malawi Cichlids. What and how many can I house in my 65G that have multi colors. I was thinking all Male Peacocks. Suggestions?

Thanks for your help!

I'd skip the peacocks in a 36" tank and also the all-male stocking. You are better off waiting until a 48x18 or larger tank is in the books.

You can have a great Malawi tank with a single species of Chindongo (was Pseudotropheus) Saulosi and stock it with 3m:9f. The males are blue barred and the females are solid yellow-orange.

With other species I would do 1m:4f only and choose small, peaceful mbuna like Labidochromis caeruleus.

Not a peaceful fish and females are drab. I'd wait for a 48" tank.
