I'm setting up a new tank either a 33long or a 40long 48lx12w and 12h/16h.
I'd like to do mbuna in this tank.
I thought of doing 12-14 Saulosi but they are hard to come by and would probably have to order.
Wanting to keep up with the contrasting colors I thought maybe
6 yellow lab and 12ish demasoni

I have 4 maybe 6 synos I'd like to add to this tank if possible I believe they are eating all the fry in my multie tank.
which is 48x24x10 50g low boy with 11 adult multies a bunch of fry, 4 julie marlieri, 6 syno petricola 2 small 2" 4 large 3.5", and a bristlenose.

What are some other options for stocking the tank with mbuna.
i have a sunsun 302 and aqua clear 50 for it but can swap the aqua clear to another sun sun 302.

With 12 demasoni I would do 3 labs and a trio of lucipinnis.

You can do the same species in a 33G as you can in a 55G because the footprint is the same. But I usually do only one or two species in this size tank.

After reading some problems with demasoni getting the right number.

What fish would do good with saulosi say I get 2- males and 6-8 females?
Could I possibly do 1m-3f of another type of mbuna,

Dont want labs or rustys since i've previously kept theses.

That would be 14 fish...stocking for saulosi is not the same as demasoni.

Two species and 1m:4f of each.

Or a species saulosi tank I would do 3m:9f. All three males might not color up, but one would and they would not kill each other. And I have seen it work with multiple colored up male saulosi.

So I got the tank this weekend its 48x12x16 so I believe a 40long. Our local clubs auction was this weekend as well and got a killer deal on 6 yellow labs. So this mixes up my stocking plans some.
What are some options for the labs in this tank I'm thinking the following.

6 yellow labs (yellow fish)
6 afra cobue or mbama (worried about the two lab species) (yellow/blue fish)
6 socolofi, cobalt blue, or manda (blue fish)

I really want to keep the yellow with the blue look looking at the 55 cookie cutter, start with 6 of each and pull out extra males and such.

I'd do 2 species but you might get by with labs, cobue and socolofi
