has anyone made or seen screens that go over the inlets to the standpipes for overflows?

i keep getting the feederfish, crawfish and maybe fry sucked into the sump

the only issue i see with it is the extra food doesnt get filtered out

FMueller a moderator on here did a write-up of how he solved this problem on his website. Here is the link to it. You can contact him to see how it is working out for him. It surely will keep the bigger fish out but no guarantees on the fry or crayfish. As the crayfish could climb right up it.

Something along the same lines of his gutter-guard fence, you might be able to use "plastic canvas" which you can find at a michaels or the craft section of a wal-mart. It's got a slightly tighter grid (I used it to make DIY media baskets for an internal filter once and it worked pretty good).
