I've noticed from the forum that a lot of people prefer spraybars on their filter outlets. I understand the advantage of having a spraybar for surface movement. What are the other advantages to have spraybars? Don't they clog easier which would need more cleaning?

I call it my DIY Canopy Filter. Its a 3 foot section of 4" PVC loaded with filter floss, then bio balls, then bio (ceramic) rings. Its mounted in my canopy and is slightly elevated on the intake side to ensure good water circulation. Its powered by a Penguin 550 powerhead on the left side of my tank behind the rock structure. If you look at my tanks, in the first pic you can see the tubing going from the 550 to the 4" PVC, and in the last pic you can see the water returning to the tank.

The spray bar is a 4 foot section of 1/2" PVC with 10 3/32" holes in it.
