My 112g has a black painted background. When I move the light to the front of the tank, you can't see the back wall at all - the background just fades into infinity and the fish swimming in the front really pop. You can however see the 2 clear plastic tubes extending from the sponge filters which show up white against the black background.

Has anyone found a remedy for this. I don't have plants. I keep the sponge filters so that I have a cycled filter in case I need to set up a hospital tank. The main filter is a trickle tower. I don't think the water in the sump is deep enough for the spong filters.

Any idea on getting them to blend in better? I don't think I've ever seen those tubes sold in black sadly.

Also, you can buy black pvc from a place like PVC Fittings Online or Home Depot, or buy white PVC and dye it with RIT or similar. There are some good discussions of dying PVC here on the forum and online in general.
