I noticed today one of my juvie yellow labs isn't getting quite as big as the rest of my juvies. I've had them for about 2 months now and he is no where near the size as the rest. I also noticed he doesnt seem to look as healthy as the rest either. It seams that his belly is caved inwards almost. Is something wrong here? Anything I can do to help this fish?

Does the fish eat or attempt to eat when you feed the group? It is possible it is just getting pushed out when they are all eating whatever food you are dropping in the tank. One of my rusty cichlids is in a similar position and I switched from just throwing the food in at one spot to across almost the entire length of the tank. I find that this makes the fish spread out a little while the food is being dropped in, allowing all of the fish to eat something. So far it seems to have helped.

What are the dimensions of the tank and what is your stock?

It's a lot of fish. What species and do you have more than 6 males?

I do think the little guy needs some intervention. Whether it is stock changes or isolation so he can fatten up or both or something else is TBD.

What are your test results for pH, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate?
