Hi there everyone. Im pretty new to the whole Malawi thing and Im Loving it. Anyways *** picked up a male and female socolofi today and when I introduced them to the tank the female started shaking at the other fish especially the Zebra which was the biggest in the tank until I introduced the female socolofi.
Is the shaking a warning sign or a mating habit?

What size is it?

If it is a 3+ inches than it is a female, if smaller than I am not so sure...

I notice a potential problem in her back, can you add another photo but the photo where I can see the fish strait in full length. Maybe it's nothing, but maybe it's a deformation of her spine..

You can only sex socolofi by venting them, you can't determine their sex by size.

I do agree that there is some curvature to the spine of this fish, so you might consider not breeding with this one, whichever sex it is.

Also, socolofi aren't pairing fish, they are harem breeders, and should be kept as 1 male to 3-4 females.

What size tank is this?

What is your full stock list for the tank?
