I had mollies growing up and never had a problem with my silvers. In my daughters tank I now have 3 female mollies, 2 silver and 1 beautiful dalmation lyretail. My silver girls were silver in the store but about a month after they came home, they have dark pigmentation. Someone else said its diet, to much protein etc, so we did blanched lettuce and spinach and vegetarian flakes. The water is always EXCELLENT 0ppm nitrite, 0ppm ammonia, >.5 nitrate. I add salt at the recommended doses.

Any suggestions. I have 4 babies right now, 10 days old and I dont want them to be dark pigmented as well.

Is it a bad line of molly, or what?
