I'm working on my 3d background but before I glue onto inside of tank, I would like to know weather to use silicone or something else...... The reason being that my tank is acrylic. Would silicone still work???? Don't see why nOt right??? Just wanting some reassurance =). Thnx

I've heard (but never tried) that silicone and acrylic are not friends. From what i've read it will not properly adhere to the acrylic. I'm sure some that have tried can confirm or make me out to be the fool

Nope, silicone will not make a long lasting bond with acrylic. I have made numerous drip trays out of acrylic and glass, the silicone never holds very long

If your background is fairly tight fitting, silicone may make the fit snug enough that a true bond with the acrylic is not necessary, friction could hold it in place in theory :D
