I have a holding Msobo deep thats approaching the 15 day mark. Up until now I've always let nature take its course and let any of my holding females be. They have yet to produce fry that lived. Most only held for a week so I know they werent fertilized. This is the second time this one has held and I have seen it spawn with my male Msobo.
I want to try to save the fry. Should I move it to another tank?
If I move it should I let it be or strip it?

If you want the fry they definitely need to go in another tank. You can strip her into the fry tank, or move her to the tank and let her spit, your choice.

Congratulations!

I am still a newbie, and was pretty tense when I did my first strip. It worked out though and yes it is pretty cool. It's a funny thing to hold a little fish and dump tiny fish fry out of her mouth!

Cichlid fry, like the adults, seem to be pretty hardy. Chances are if you take reasonable care of the fry (see articles are fry care on this forum) they will all make it to juvie size. I have fed my new fry freshly hatched live brine shrimp and that works pretty well. They grow fast.

Good luck!
