i have two angelfish who have grown quite a bit since i bought them.
is there a way of telling if they are male or female? im not looking for answers such as "if you see eggs, then you have a pair."

i want good serious answers that can help me identify the male and/or female

Angels are one of those fish that are hard for most people to sex by the eye test. Experienced Angel fish breeders seem to do it pretty well, but many long term LFS owners/employees struggle.

You could ask a LFS to teach you how to vent sex fish, and then give it a go. I'm one of those people that learn better by doing rather than reading how to do it, and once I was shown how to vent sex fish, it became easy.
