I currently have two tanganyika tanks going and I am trying to decide on stocking list for the third. Is there any sand sifter that can be kept in a 40 gal breeder? if so would they be ok with meleagris shellies?

Xenotilapia Bathyphilus would work very well in a 40B.

They would probably not do well with Meleagris, although I have to admit I have never kept the two together. Remember that both are bottom-dwellers, so they're sharing/competing for that part of the tank.

If you want to keep another species with them, how about one that's more of an open-water dweller, like P Nigripinnis? Prop some rocks up in one of the corners for the paracyps, and you don't give up too much floor space. Temperament-wise the two work together well too.

Thanks, but the meleagris are a definite, they should be here in about a week on special order from my lfs. I was trying to do something diff. than the same old shellie/juli combo.
