Hi Everyone

Just wanted to hear from experienced ruby red owners past and present on opinions regarding diet to really bring out the red in them.

I have been pretty successful with blue, orange & yellow based cichlids but never had much success with ruby red or German red peacocks - always start red but fade orange.

Any specific brand/type of food that you have used with truly red peacocks? I am a big fan of Dianichi & Tetra Color cichlid sticks but not sure how suitable they are for the more red end of the spectrum.

Thanks for any help and advice.

Maybe your fish were hormoned to get the brilliant red and the fading is due to the hormones wearing off rather than food that is not red.

For red colors, people feed shrimp, krill, cyclops-eeze, etc.

You can also feed Nutarose (Astaxanthan powder)- works great for bringing out the reds.
Spirulina Flake and NLS also work well.
