Does anyone use these for there water in the tank or are most people just using regular tap water for water changes?? I see they are a little pricey but are they worth the expense??

they are worth the expense provided you need R/O water... do you though? You've not said which fish you need R/O water for.

i had a mixed hap/peacock 90 gal tank up till now and was just using regular tap water for water changes top off of tank.

an RO filter is not worth buying for African Rift Lake cichlids...

I agree, an RO filter would completely defeat the purpose for most African cichlids. I use RO water but I have (mostly) SA...and even then the RO water has to be reconstitued with regular tap water (treated of course) for buffering.
