So I'm going to put in service a 55g tank that has been in storage for 8 years. It looks in good condition requiring minimal glass cleaning. Silicon is soft and nothing pealing. My question is should I cut the inside fillet back to square glass and reseal? Thanks

I had a tank unused that long and had no problems. I would not mess with it unless it leaks.

Maybe set it up in an area where it is okay to leak - cement floor, garage, outdoors if not freezing, or similar and see what happens. I'd expect it would leak in the first day if it were going to.

About a year ago I set up a nearly 40 year old AGA 55G tank that had been sitting empty for almost 20 years.

I leak-tested it on the basement floor before I set it up.

My advice: If it holds water and doesn't leak, don't mess with anything.
