Hey everyone,

I'm adding some fish to my tank. When it's all said and done I'll probably have something like this:

15 Demasoni, 7 Yellow Labs, 4 or 5 Acei's, and maybe 4 or 5 Lab Fuelleborni OB's

I currently have an Eheim 2026 canister filter in a 75 gallon rectangular tank.

Do you think the Eheim will handle the filtration on my fish stocking?

Thanks!

I have a 90g which is the same footprint as your 75g and I started with an Eheim 2028 which was filtering okay, but I decided to add an AC110 for additional mechanical filtration and then I added a Magnum HOT 250 with a surface skimmer attached to keep the water surface crystal clear. You are probably fine with just the 2026, but you may want to add a HOB if you think you might need more mechanical filtration. My tank is stocked with yellow labs and p. aceis plus 3 bristlenose plecos. I would probably see how it goes with just the Eheim at first.

The filter might be ok for the biological filtration but you might want to add a powerhead to increase the amount of water circulation on the tank to remove dead spots etc as the turn over with just that one filter isn't going to be particularly high.
The filter's rated at around 240GPH but with media in it it'll probably drop to around 170-180GPH or so (maybe less) which is only around 2.5x the tank volume per hour.
