i have a rena xp3 canister in my 90 gallon & i love it! my water is crystal clean, and yes i was very impressed with how quite they are. i've had no problems with mine.

Anyone tried these yet? I just bought two of them for my 50 gallon. I've used Whispers, Aquaclears, and Emperors before. I've always liked Emperors the best but I gotta say these new Rena's are nice and seem to do a good job they're aslo every quite. The only thing I don't like about it so far is they didn't give me enough bio media and I had to buy more.
