How big should Lamp. Stappersii fry be when I take them out of the shell and put them in a breeding tank? They have already lost their yolk sack and are probabably 3mm long.

I will wait untill they get a little bigger though. I see them come towards the opening of the shell every now and then but they are still tiny. It amazes me how goood of parents they are. That female wants nothing to do with me looking in her shell.

They still havent really left the shell but frequently come to the edge of the lip of the shell. And I am getting impatient, I want to see how many there are. :fish:

IME from occies, the female seems to kick out her fry when shes ready for another batch. taking them out when they are free swimming is a PITA. they move around too much. i would take them out while they are in the shell. might be more of a risk though.
i got my older occie fry(1+inch) in my 35G with younger fry(1/2+) and the female.
nothing else is in there. seems to be ok.

what other fish are in the tank?
how big is the tank?
