For those of you who have been raising multies or cyps and dispersing them by trade or sale at what size do you sell/trade them? I have multie fry that are now about an 3/4in maybe though still not fully developed.

In my local aquarium clubs the usual rule is any offspring should be at least one inch long OR capable of surviving as you want the new owner to have a good chance of raising the fish.

Small fish such as Shellies are usually good to go at 3/4" since their adult size is only a few inches at most.

Cyp fry can be delicate, I'll let them get pretty big.

Most of my African cichlids I have starting selling at 1 - 1.25 inches. I have sold some cyps at three-quarters of an inch. They grow so slowly when fry in my opinion. Sometimes I do not have the room and time to grow them out.

Thank you for the responses. I will keep feeding them and hopefully by Christmas they will be the right size.

Water changes are equally as important if not more for increasing growth (IMO).
